Dear Fellow Democrat,

On Monday February 4, 2013, Allison Tant and I met to discuss building our new Florida Democratic Party team.

To expand opportunities for you to participate in building our party, we are soliciting your help to recruit new members to our leadership team. Rather than just appoint members of our standing committees, we believe we need to expand our outreach to ensure our leadership is as diverse and multicultural as our incredible state.  To reach this goal, we are soliciting volunteers and recommendations to serve on these important standing committees. Individuals should represent a cross section of our Democratic leadership and activists, who have the dedication, knowledge, skills and time to serve.

This communication is an official call for volunteers to serve on the Florida Democratic Party standing committees.  Logistics will ultimately limit the size of the committees, however we will strive to include the faces, principles and values that best represent our party and our state. Individuals interested in serving on the committees must be willing to participate in telephone conference calls, attend regional meetings and travel to statewide meeting locations.

With the exception of the Judicial Council (see below) all registered Democrats in our state are eligible to serve on standing committees.

The following are the Florida Democratic Party standing committees:

• Rules Committee – Open to all Florida registered Democrats
• Affirmative Action Committee – Open to all Florida registered Democrats.
• Committee on Clubs, Organizations, and Caucuses – Open to all Florida registered Democrats
• Legislative Liaison Committee – Open to all Florida registered Democrats
• Campaign Committee – Open to all Florida registered Democrats
• Judicial Council – Membership in this committee is restricted to the following: Members shall consist of one (1) person from each congressional district, who may be either a member of the State Executive Committee, a county Democratic Executive Committee chair, or a county Democratic Executive Committee vice chair.
